We would be happy to hold any of these at our church, with prior arrangement. Please contact us if you wish to arrange or discuss further any sort of event.
Baptism with water is a sacrament or sign of God’s love and welcome. We remember that Jesus was baptised in the river Jordan, and that the Holy Spirit came down upon him like a dove.
In our denomination baptism happens only once, usually as a baby. Adults who have been not previously been baptised as children can receive baptism. For infants, the child’s parents or carers make promises to bring the child up in the Christian faith. An adult candidate for baptism would make their own promises. Baptism marks the beginning of our journey in the Christian faith.
A Blessing is also a sign of God’s love, and this can be chosen by those who feel they cannot make the specific promises to bring a child up in the life of the church. A prayer of blessing can take place as part of a service of thanksgiving for a child’s birth.
Weddings
You need to apply to the Registry Office to give formal notice of your intention to marry, up to a year before the actual ceremony. For details, see the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames website.
There is a charge for the minister and the use of the church, and the organist if required and also any flowers.
Our church building is registered for marriage services between a man and a woman. It is not currently registered for marriages of same-sex couples. We would, however, be pleased to give a church blessing to civil marriages or partnerships; for these you do not need to make any arrangements with the Registry Office.
Funerals
A funeral director may put you in touch with us, but please do not hesitate to get in touch directly if you wish.
There are usually fees for the minister and for the use of the church, and an organist if required. Recording or live streaming may be possible on request.
You may also find helpful information about bereavement and support on the Cruse website. There is a weekly Compassionate Café in nearby Hampton Hill United Reformed Church.
